23 years ago was a day that changed Oklahoma forever. It also changed me. I was a responder at the Murrah bombing and helped my fellow Oklahomans as their nurse through that terrible tragedy and it shaped who I am today.

When I first ran for office, someone asked me why I was running and why I wanted to serve in such a polarizing political environment. The answer was simple: I looked back to that tragic day in 1995 and remembered Oklahomans of every party affiliation, every background, every creed, came together to mourn and rebuild. In the face of that terrible tragedy, we really saw the Oklahoma standard shine through. I know Oklahomans are at our best when we stick together and have each others backs. That's why I served that day and why I continue to serve in the legislature.

I know I'm saying a prayer tonight for the families that lost their loved ones on that tragic day. We will never forget.
